Samir Seif’s Martial Arts Bio & Fight
Stats & Certifications

Samir
attained his 1st black belt in 1990 in Daito Jiu Jitsu and Hapkido.
In the next 5 years training full time and becoming an assistant
teacher he would attain associated degrees of the 3rd dan and
add Wing Chun Kung Fu and Chi’Na to his resume. Working as an
executive protector, security officer/trainer Samir became a “Sifu”
and opened up his own school in Grimsby, Ontario in 1995. Using
a 5 color system of sashes, he relied on the wing chun kung fu
system for his guide which in turn used the original ranking model
of Judo. Over the next 2 years Samir studied kyokushin, muay thai,
shidokan, kickboxing and Brazilian jiu jitsu like one who is possessed.
By
1997 Samir opened an Academy Of Martial Sciences in Burlington.
It was a state of the art gym with over 5000 sq feet of training
area. Samir had half a dozen separate martial art systems he could
teach and was using their individual ranks and syllabus’s. At
this time Samir was recognized as a Master instructor and promoted
as a head master of his school by the World Fighting Submission
Council and Trapping Association of America. This would have been
7 years from the date of his first black belt. He was teaching
separate classes in Wing Chun kung fu, jeet kune do, submission
wrestling, tactical combat (weapons, guns, knives, military),
jiu jitsu and judo. That year he attained his Judo brown belt
from Sensei Dominick McKenna.
Master
Trainer Nickolas C Starks, Master Lamar M Davis II signed off
certifications of their own school and signed off on original
certificates honouring his system. School Master Ronald Beer also
recognized Samir as the West Convenor and representative of Shoot
Wrestling Canada/Ontario at that time. Master Robert Krantz also
recognized Samir under The World Kobudo Federation and came down
to test Samir in person. Samir also attained his wrestling coach’s
license from the Ontario amateur wrestling association. He attained
National Jiu Jitsu Medals at this time, with his last Jiu Jitsu
grappling tournament in 1997 as a Gold Medalist, having won silver
and bronze medals in previous years. In 1999 to 2001 he was licensed
and recognized by the United Federation of Martial Arts. Eleven
years after his original black belt and six years since his original
school, he now was again the head of his program and chief instructor
of Aerokickboxing, Total Body Submission Grappling and Samir’s
Combat Reaction. He ran three programs; two for adults and the
other for children within United Family Martial Arts. The growth
of his program could not be sustained by the room at the gym so
Samir was forced to build his now famous Dungeon Dojo in his home.
True tests of combat, true tests of warriorhood and grand bonds
of camaraderie were made in the depths of his secretive and very
private school. The school grew and again he moved to a new home
within Hamilton and made a dojo out of a double sized garage that
would be the final forge of creating a corp of senior instructors
and developing the system of which you see today. Over the years
between 1999 and 2003, Samir refined one curriculum for all the
martial art systems he had mastered and he redefined his method
as a Modern Combat System for a modern day warrior. This would
include promoting not only the physical aspect of Martial arts
training but also the virtues of what it brought to the mind and
the body. He refers to his system as ”the way of the warrior”.
Key to each student’s development was the use of 4 dynamic principles
and characteristics of self development under the ethical code
of Honour:
• Loyalty
• Integrity
• Courage
• Knowledge
In
2003,after a decade of teaching, Samir no longer referred to his
system as kung fu, or jiu jitsu, but by Sifu Samir’s Combat Reaction.
At this time His Master Instructor Mahamet Khalid Ah’lee passed
away and Fowaz Mansoon was soon leaving the country to go back
to his Middle East Home. Samir was in turn asked to take on the
mantle of head instructor of the Arabian Warrior Combat System.
Samir chose to honor their names, their methods and a ceremony
to symbolize his recognition of becoming a Shihan (7th dan) but
discontinued the use of that name. He believed there was no ethnicity
to training. The only specific culture to Martial arts and the
science, is cultivation of self as a warrior and learning what
that entails plus moving oneself away from creed, colour, religion,
race and nationality. All come together as equals.
An
opportunity arose in 2006 to train full time in the art of Muay
Thai. It came at the same time Samir would open a new school,
a state of the art gym once again, with wrestling mats, an ultimate
fighting style cage and a ring. With his previous gusto, Samir
began training three times a day in addition to his classes, 6
days a week for two years. In this time Samir would go on to become
a fully recognized Kru (muay thai instructor), a Canadian/Ontario
Champion (super heavy weight belt holder) undefeated, undisputed
3 years straight as well as a member of the Canadian Muay Thai
team ,train in Thailand and win a bronze medal for Canada. Samir
has fought on pay per view and on the international scene for
the last 3 years.
In
2007 he began boxing training and within 3 months with no prior
boxing experience became a professional boxer. He knocked out
his opponent in the first round. He would go on to knock out his
next opponent 5 months later in the 1st round as well. He is well
known around the world as the Sandman for his quick and powerful
knockouts therefore the name (making his opponents go to sleep)
and continues to make a name for himself as a fighter, combat
athlete trainer and a Master Martial artist.
It
has been almost two decades since Samir’s 1st black belt and almost
the same time teaching the martial arts sciences. Recognized by
many peers as a source of great training and knowledge, Samir
is humbly proud to call many of today’s master instructors his
friends, his peers. At the young age of 36, Samir has compiled
a strong background in the science of combat arts and the way
of the warrior. He now looks forward to training and developing
martial artists and combatant athletes in the next generation
of Samir’s Combat Reaction.
